Hey Guys
My name is James. I live in London and I have been out for university for 2 years now. I studied film and TV which I greatly enjoyed and I knew that I wanted a career in film, as I have done from a young age. After graduation, I fell into a couple of really good film jobs, but I hated them! I have had a few jobs in the industry since, and once again, all of them I have mainly been highly disappointed with. My faith in this career has diminished and now I've been left trying to think of a new career path to follow.
For the past 9 months I have been working in a retail position - one that I can't wait to see the back of, as retail is definitely not my desired line of work! Much of the time I struggle to find the will power and energy to actively look for career ideas online, but I really need to get out of the rut that I'm in. I know that I want to be creative in whatever I do - but what can I do? I'm not really qualified for much, am I?
Any advice would be much appreciated, even if it's just career ideas, or websites that I can look at or whatever! Please! I need some help, this isn't where I saw myself in life, and I desperately want to change it!

Hey James,
I know what it's like to be disappointed with a 'dream job' or industry - well, just because of some bad experiences it doesn't mean you have to give up all of it? Maybe you can keep some aspects of it (that you liked) and just change the other things (that you didn't)? What kind of work did you do, and for whom? Maybe you can change what you did or for whom, maybe go freelance? Or team up with other creatives, so it's a joint effort and not a 'boss-employee' relationship?
If you hated film jobs, how about theatre or community theatre/improv or anything else 'just for fun'? Or helping a meaningful nonprofit/biz with 'commercials' or educational films or 'live' theatre-like promo? Or being PR person/film director for a nonprofit cinema? Or helping select films or series for TV stations (local, cable, or bigger?) or festivals? Just a few ideas.. Not sure if you're still looking? Hope you've found something interesting by now! :)
